Orienteering Challenge Puts Navigation Skills to the Test in the Great Outdoors

An interactive orienteering experience is inviting families, friends, and outdoor enthusiasts to put their navigation abilities to the test through a timed course that combines map reading, strategy, and friendly competition. Designed for a range of abilities, the activity offers both beginner and moderate routes, making it accessible to first-time participants as well as those seeking a greater challenge.

Using a specially prepared map, participants navigate between a series of control points positioned throughout the course. The objective is to locate each checkpoint in the correct order while completing the route in the shortest possible time, encouraging careful planning as well as efficient movement.

Each competitor carries an electronic SI card that records a digital “dib” at every control point, accurately tracking progress throughout the course. This electronic timing system ensures precise recording of each participant’s route and performance without the need for manual scorekeeping.

Upon returning to the finish area, participants receive a detailed printout showing split times between checkpoints and their overall completion time. The instant results add a competitive element to the experience, allowing individuals and teams to compare performances while enjoying an engaging outdoor adventure that blends navigation, teamwork, and problem-solving.
