The market place of Accra. A bit too crowdy. You have to be careful enough with your belongings and self. But you get almost everything you need for your home at a reasonable rate.It is really hard to capture Makola Market's spirit in writing - you just have to go there. This huge market is combined of main streets and back allies. I enjoyed walking in the place. very particular and learned so many things about the daily lives and food habits of people in Ghana. If you love culture, you'll like the place.

So much on safe, great fabrics too...a yard goes for about 9 Cedi

Opened market with just about everything from clothing, shoes, food, jewelry, cosmetics, electronics, etc. The down side is the the market is not very organized or compartmentalized. One has to walk long distances looking for goods and you just can't be sure where to find stuff.

This market was so crowded with many people but it made us so attractive when we bought something like kente clothes and smock.

If you want to have an authentic experience in Accra this market is the place to be! Very chaotic and busy but worth it if you go early and avoid the midday heat. Enjoy a bit of bargaining and negotiating with the local traders. At this market they won't rip you off as its too busy to bother.
