We took two tours with Whiskey Island and LOVED both. We did the two day Northern Ireland Private Whiskey Tour and three day Ireland’s Ancient East Private Whiskey Tour. We highly recommend both of these tours. We were lucky to have both John and Colm as our guides on these adventures. We got the best of both worlds on these tours enjoying both small and large distilleries along with very knowledgeable guides of Irish history and culture. Whiskey Island tours meticulously planned each trip with 5* accommodations, variety of distillery experiences and other adventures to make the tours a well rounded experience. Northern Ireland included must see stops as Killowen Distillery (Patrick and Brandon were wonderful hosts that make excellent whiskey with an Irish mythology twist.), Giant’s Causeway (Unbelievable site that should not be missed.) and Bushmills Distillery (Owen was a great tour guide making this stop enjoyable). Ancient East included must see stops as Powerscourt Distillery (Rich in history, beautiful setting and great Fercullen Whiskey.), Wicklow mountains are gorgeous, Glendalough Monastic Site, beautiful town of Kilkenny with wonderful food at Petronella, Blackwater Distillery (A very intimate tour with Master distiller John introducing us to their whiskey innovations and Caroline introducing us to Blackwater Gin. Neither should be missed.), Rebel City Distillery in Cork (No whiskey here, but a great stop with a great story to tell.) and of course the can’t miss Midleton Brewery in Cork (A vast variety of whiskey here which you have to try all. Jameson is not the only Irish Whiskey they produce.). Do not hesitate to book with Whiskey Island tours. We will definitely be repeat customers when we visit Ireland again since you will not get more knowledgeable tour guides of the Irish Whiskey scene.

Great tour that focused on Whisky making. We were able to taste different whisky and Dave our guide had a solid understanding of how to make whisky and other liquors. A new facility, and we saw all the steps to make a whisky. Recommended

Our Dublin Private Guinness and Jameson Whiskey Tour with Transfers was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment we received a friendly text from our guide, John Callely, the day before the tour, we knew we were in good hands. John’s punctual arrival at our hotel in a sleek, luxurious car set the tone for a seamless day of exploration. First stop: Guinness! With VIP access through a backdoor entrance, we bypassed all the crowds and lines. John’s knowledge and passion for Dublin’s heritage shone through in every fascinating story and detail he shared. The tour felt tailored just for us, like a stroll through history with an old friend. He even offered to take photos and was incredibly patient as we lingered over the parts that captivated us most. After soaking up the panoramic views and savoring a freshly poured Guinness, John whisked us off to Jameson, where we enjoyed yet another seamless experience. Skipping lines, he accompanied us right up to our tasting experience, giving us space to immerse ourselves in the presentation of four whiskeys. We reconvened afterward for some souvenir shopping, with John offering expert advice on where to find the best keepsakes. And the service didn’t stop there! Instead of just dropping us at the hotel, he took our newly acquired treasures back for us while we enjoyed lunch nearby at one of his favorite spots. He even arranged to have our items safely placed in our room. It was as if he was not only our guide but also our personal concierge, making us feel entirely taken care of. John’s warm personality and effortless conversation made the entire tour feel like a morning with an old friend, sharing laughter and insights along the way. This tour was worth every penny and more—an experience so smooth and enjoyable that it’s a must-do for anyone visiting Dublin. We’d book another tour with John in a heartbeat and can’t wait to recommend this gem of a tour to all our friends!

We took two tours with this group on our recent stay in Ireland. Before we even arrived in Ireland, John reached out to us to ensure that we had no questions. On learning that it was our first trip to Ireland, He also provided a list of lovely restaurants for us to visit in town and some insider knowledge. The first day we did the distillery tour which included three distilleries with very unique histories and whiskeys. The second day we did the Guinness and Jameson tour. Both days were amazing. Our guides for each day had a wealth of knowledge. they provided a truly unique experience for our family. As this was our first trip to Ireland, it was lovely to have guides that gave us a bit of history, both along the way to the distilleries, as well as within them as well. This is truly white glove, five star experience!!! there were no lines and no need to rush. On our first day, Gerry, our driver gave us a fantastic tour into town. We learned a lot of Irish history on the way. Tiernan, our guide had a true understanding of Irish whiskey. He taught us the proper way to pull out the notes and flavors. As well as giving us an insiders guide to tasting. He was so kind and patient with us as we went through the process. Each location had unique features. We got to see working distilleries, and got a broad tasting of what Whiskey has to offer. Day two was equally enjoyable. John, our guide made sure that our experiences at both locations were unique. We did both days with our teenager who was made to feel very special. They took extra effort to ensure that she had a good experience as well. I highly recommend this tour. It is worth every penny. It was an stress-free way to experience unique perspective on Irish whiskey history.

We just spent the most wonderful afternoon with John Callely driving us around Dublin to learn about and enjoy Irish whiskey. First stop was the whiskey museum where we learned about the history of whiskey in Ireland and tried a few small batch whiskeys. Then we went to the old Jameson Warehouse where we got to go back into the store room and have a cask draw dram. After Jameson we moved to the liberties distillery. It's Dublin's newest distillery and it's absolutely amazing it's in an old tannery that they have converted. The copper stills were breathtakingly beautiful. Everywhere we went the guides were delightful and friendly and happy to answer questions, Happy to accommodate mom and her cane. it's clear that John has a wonderful relationship with all of these locations and I feel like we got special service because he's a friend to them.
