Experience the eerie charm of Edinburgh’s Old Town on a spine tingling tour through moonlit graveyards and haunted underground vaults dating back to the 1700s. Your guide will lead you to Greyfriars Graveyard, a site steeped in folklore legends and myths. Here you will hear the story of Greyfriars Bobby, the loyal dog whose vigil over his master’s grave has become famous in novels and history books. As you wander among the gravestones, your guide will recount chilling tales of the past, including the lives of those buried beneath the ground and the dark history that surrounds the graveyard. The atmosphere of the Old Town combined with the moonlit setting creates a hauntingly memorable experience that will captivate and unsettle in equal measure.
The tour continues into the infamous South Bridge underground vaults, widely regarded as one of the scariest locations in the world. These vaults were once home to the destitute, criminals, prostitutes, witches, and even the notorious Hellfire Club. Visitors will hear stories of the evil that is said to linger within these walls, making the experience both thrilling and chilling. Stout footwear is recommended for navigating the uneven surfaces, and the tour is not suitable for children under twelve or those easily unsettled. This unforgettable journey through Edinburgh’s darkest corners promises a blend of history mystery and supernatural intrigue.

Had a great time on the underground vaults tour! Luisa was a fun and entertaining guide, and did a great job leading the tour. She shared the colorful history of the vaults and some en route points of interest, and added the creepy spin the vaults deserve. Very fun!

I’m glad I did see the vaults as it is very interesting such things exist under the streets above. These tours were recommended on tik tok and this particular tour group seemed to be more enthusiastic/ entertaining from the things I’ve seen on tik tok, and that is exactly what we got, James, our guide was so enthusiastic and a nice guy, you could tell he likes his job and so it’s lovely to listen & learn about the vaults from him. We enjoyed the tour!

We had a fantastic experience with Brendan! With a good balance of history, drama, and spookiness he managed to be everything we could have wanted from a tour guide! It was very informative and interesting with lots of local history of an otherwise hidden part of the Old Town. Brendan was funny and high energy throughout the tour and we thoroughly enjoyed his take on the odd goings on from the vaults!

Fantastic hour! We had James guide us around, who was brilliant! You could tell he loved his job and loved teaching everyone the secrets of the vaults! We booked at the office 10mons before it started (visit in October + using the Scottish Pass) and ended up on effectively a private tour as noone else came so win win for us!

Our guide Ally was a great storyteller, very available for any questions and recommendations. Also a very entertaining tour, with lots of good jokes by our guide. The overall tour lives up to expectations of both spookiness and curiosities.
