Join us for a unique and exhilarating small-group hike to the summit of Pen y Fan, the highest mountain in Southern Britain. This 11km route with 600m of ascent avoids the usual crowded paths, taking you along quiet trails and hidden corners of the Brecon Beacons. Starting by following the River Taff to its source, you'll traverse scenic landscapes, tackle steep climbs to Corn Du and Pen y Fan, and be rewarded with sweeping views stretching to Devon, Somerset, and even Cadair Idris on clear days. Along the way, your guide will point out geological wonders like the fossil beach and ensure plenty of photo opportunities to capture your mountain adventure.
After summiting Pen y Fan, the adventure continues "off piste" as we descend remote slopes—sometimes hilariously sliding down on our backs! We'll visit the serene Llyn Cwm Llwch and uncover its local legends, before making our way to the poignant memorial of Tommy Jones, where your guide will share the true and touching story behind it. Our final summit, Yr Gyrn, rounds off a day of mountain exploration as we descend back to the starting point. Led by a knowledgeable and entertaining guide, this hike offers solitude, scenic beauty, and memorable moments far from the crowds.

Absolutely loved doing this is am so chuffed with my self for achieving this we set off at 4am got up there for half 5 just in time for sunrise it only took us so long because I had to keep sitting down because I have spinal problems struggle walking was absolutely out of this world

Great views and good path. Around 1.5hr climb.

Thoroughly enjoyed waking up the mountain with my son who was really pushing the pace! The views were amazing and simply got better as we scaled up higher. Ensure you have good boots to scale the mountain on a wet day as the path can get treacherous down hill.

Absolutely gorgeous. Leave early and ovoid the crowds. The views were stunning, and back in time for a late breakfast.

Lovely climb, weather very changeable always check mountain weather forecast and carry a back pack with supplies and layers. Always walking boots not trainers as can be slip coming down, toilets in National Trust car park Pont ar Daf or can park Storey Arms. Probably an hour and ten minutes climb depending on your route and fitness, and also if you do Corn Du first.
