Join an unforgettable hiking adventure through the El Saltillo Gorge and visit the traditional white village of Canillas de Aceituno. Departing from Málaga, this tour offers a scenic journey into the heart of Axarquia, a valley known for its unique tropical plantations. After arriving in Canillas de Aceituno, you’ll explore the charming streets of this picturesque village before embarking on a hike along the ancient Arab irrigation canal. The trail, which is mostly flat with a few steep sections, will lead you to the breathtaking El Saltillo Gorge, where you’ll cross footbridges and marvel at the stunning Mediterranean landscape. Enjoy a picnic by the river and take a refreshing dip in crystal-clear waters before heading back, spotting wildlife like mountain goats along the way.

Very narrow sometimes, event dangerously, always have to look down where you make a step, going next to the cliff most of the time. Have lots of water, and use shadows as much as you can.

Great walk, parking in the village, good track, bridge at the end, or continue 22km in total to Competa!

Paramount Paradise! Short and medium level track with dangerous areas sometimes during the trail. But it is not impossible to cross, the views are stunning and the town 8s a good stop to try ' Chivo and Morcilla '

This location in Canillas de Aceituno is the start of the walk to El Saltillo. From here to the main suspension bridge and back it is about 6.5 km. It is mostly flat but there are some steep parts, down to the bridge and back up, so you may want to turn around at the point where you can see the bridge if a steep ascent and descent will be very difficult for you. Make sure to bring plenty of water and some snacks, especially if you go on a warm day. Beautiful views, well worth the 2 1/2 hours it took us. There is a drinkable water station near the start of the walk in the town.

The track to el saltillo was very pretty. Not really hard but it has a view parts where it goes steep up and down. And you should wear shoes with good grip (no sandals) if you slip on the way down to the bridge you can definitely hurt yourself. You can also go a bit further up on the other side to enjoy the great view and relax. If you are in the area check it out its really nice.
