Historic Granada Trail Connects Avellano Path to Cerro del Sol Amid Mediterranean Landscapes

A traditional hiking route on the outskirts of Granada is drawing attention for its blend of natural scenery and historic pathways, tracing a classic ascent from the Avellano area to the summit of Cerro del Sol via the ancient Alarife path. Just minutes from the urban center, the trail offers a quiet escape into Mediterranean woodland shaped by centuries of human and natural interaction.

The route passes through dense vegetation characteristic of the lower slopes of the Sierra Nevada foothills, including holm oaks, pine forests, and aromatic shrubs that release strong natural fragrances in warmer months.
