This one-day conversion course is tailored for students who have already completed the Spanish Boat Licence or RYA Powerboat Level 1 with The Boat School and wish to upgrade their skills efficiently. Running from approximately 09:00 to 16:00, the program focuses on practical, hands-on training to build confidence in boat handling, close-quarters manoeuvres, anchoring, and essential on-water techniques. The course is intentionally designed to bridge the gap between basic qualifications and more advanced powerboating competence.
In addition to the full training day on the water, participants will have access to supporting online theory modules to reinforce their understanding of navigation, safety, and seamanship. Students also have the option to attend a two-hour, face-to-face theory class for an additional fee, providing personalised guidance and deeper theoretical insight. With small group instruction, this course ensures focused attention and a strong foundation for progressing to higher certification levels.

Fantastic weekend doing the power boat course. Terrible weather but brilliant training from Liam and Andrew (and Abigail our Rib!). Highly recommend the course and the guys to anyone serious about power boating.

We had a brilliant weekend at Dun Laoghaire Powerboat School and can’t recommend it enough. The course was really well run, with loads of time on the water and a perfect balance of learning and enjoyment. Declan, our instructor, was outstanding — patient, clear, encouraging and focused on safety, practical skills and helping us to be successful. We covered so much, from high-speed manoeuvring and coming alongside to man-over-board recovery, knots, navigation and tides. My teenage son and I both finished the weekend feeling confident, fully qualified, and delighted with our Powerboat Certificates. A fantastic experience for any beginner looking to get started.
