If you love animals and friendly hosts, you’ll love it here! Happy animals in a natural setting with native plants and warm-hearted hosts who share lots of insights about animal welfare and the production process of Iberian ham. We learnt a lot about how they tackle climate change and how raising the animals in a natural way contributes to biodiversity. We felt so welcome and even got to pet the Iberian pigs and feed them acorns! The products were high-quality and absolutely delicious! We would come back anytime :-)
The highlight of your road trip! The tour was very informative and the owner is very nice. The lunch was excellent and completely home cooked by the owner’s mom who is the sweetest lady.
I highly recommend doing the tour with them to learn how challenging and difficult it can be to produce real, organic and naturally raised meat. And I’m not just talking about the certification, which is merely the first part of it. Their philosophy towards farming is truly admirable and it is purely a passion for this that keep them going.
An incredible hidden gem. Sylvain’s passion for his work was so beautiful to see. He made us feel very welcome and was very generous, serving us an incredible lunch of Spanish cuisine including salmorejo, zanahorias aliñadas, and of course a number of Iberian pork products, from his delicious braised pork ribs to the classic Iberian ham. Sylvain also explained to us the ongoing challenges that he is now facing with climate change, and how he has needed to adapt and generate more income streams over the years. I left with a newfound appreciation for the love and care that goes into making Iberian pork products, and how truly special it is that people are willing to make sacrifices to continue this wonderful tradition for generations to come.
This farm is a hidden gem! I went there yesterday with my huband and kid, and we had such a wonderful time! We first met Antonio, the owner, who picked us up in Pruna and showed us the farm and the surroundings. We fed the pigs and horses with him, which made our kid so happy and excited. Then we had a perfect lunch prepared by Sylvain (other owner) and Antonio. The lunch was so delicious, as was the wine which is made by their friend in Seville. We also tried their products (jamon, chorizo, salsichon…) which were so good! You can just taste the sweetness of the meat. The farm is very well maintained, it is clean and the pigs are very well taken care of. They are running around free, eating the grass and flowers that grow on the farm. The way of farming here is something different and you can taste that difference in the meat. It is sweet, tender, juicy and smells so so good. Antonio really loves what he does and you can see that in the way he talks about the farm and the animals. After lunch we had a good chat with Antonio (Sylvain had another group) and I would come back to La Umbria just for the talks and surroundings… and the meat, of course! :) This is a real andalusian gem and the best experiance we had in Andalusia! I can’t recommend them enough! It is really worth a visit! Lots of love from little Maro, Sanja and Ivan from Croatia! :)
