Discover the timeless charm of the Costa Brava as you journey through its most authentic fishing villages, where tradition and natural beauty blend seamlessly. Begin in Pals, a beautifully preserved medieval town set on a hilltop overlooking the sea. Its cobbled streets, stone archways, and Romanesque tower create a step back in time, offering a glimpse into Catalonia’s storied past. Wander through narrow lanes adorned with ivy-covered walls, pause in quaint squares, and take in panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and coastline. Every corner of Pals tells a tale of history, culture, and the enduring Mediterranean spirit.

Continue your adventure to Calella de Palafrugell, a postcard-perfect seaside village where whitewashed houses and colorful fishing boats reflect on the calm blue waters. Stroll along the scenic Cami de Ronda coastal path, breathing in the sea air and admiring the rugged cliffs and hidden coves that define the Costa Brava. Conclude your day in Tossa de Mar, a vibrant coastal town crowned by its medieval fortress overlooking turquoise waters. Explore the walled old town of Vila Vella, where stone towers rise above the sea and winding alleys reveal charming shops and cafes. This journey through Pals, Calella, and Tossa offers a captivating mix of history, culture, and breathtaking coastal scenery—an unforgettable experience of the true essence of the Costa Brava.

Bit difficult to get to for parking, as the car park is closed off, so you need to go round the roundabout and park along the busy road between Saint Cyprien and Canet. It's got some good amount of info to read up on it's history, nice little walk around the site, a good place to stop off between seaside towns, but just rather cut off.

Easy parking access. Absolutely stunning views of the mountains, a must take photo opportunity. Plenty of wildlife as well depending on time if day and season.

An interesting free attraction. This fishing village is a collection of restored huts used by the fishermen for fishing in the nearby lagoon. One of the huts is still used for storing the fishing equipment as the fishermen are still active.

We were very lucky with weather today One, it was bitterly cold, clear but still and sunny. The lighting was great for seeing the colours of the birds' plumage and also highlighting the various surrounding hills. One of the best parts of our visit today was lots of flamingos, however they were over on the other bank so rather far away. Fine for binoculars or photographers with big telephoto lenses though. A large group of beautiful swans were very close to the shore, one in particular was giving a beautiful display and fluffing his wings up around him like a ballerina. Also seen today cormorants, many great crested grebes, a reed bunting, a hoopoe, a kestrel, and several others. Walking was a bit squishy underfoot today in a couple of places but nothing drastic. Comfortable walking shoes are best but trainers would be fine as nothing too uneven and there are decent sandy paths around the reserve. Might be heavy going in a wheelchair though so probably best for people that are able to walk. Having said that if you can manage even a short walk or have a strong person to push a wheelchair to near the edge of the water you will have an amazing view and lots of bird life to watch.
