Beautiful waterfall with clear turquoise water and just a short walk to get there. Unless you’re comfortable in cold water (we were!), be prepared — there’s not much else to do at the site besides the swim, and the entry fee is on the higher side.

This is an absolutely gorgeous waterfall with crystal clear water. You walk over some hanging bridges to get there and don’t forget swim clothes because you can get in the water here and it’s worth it. We stayed at the Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin, so we didn’t have to pay extra for entry. We were really impressed with this waterfall and we have seen quite a few this week

Upon approaching the front desk for the tour, the young lady who assisted us was extremely unfriendly. She appeared to be annoyed with our presence. And it was not very clear with the instructions she was trying to give us. At the waterfall there are no instructions for on how deep the water is. One of our family members nearly drowned.

We were staying at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelín and decided to make Oropendola Waterfall our last stop after a day full of adventures (Sunday, June 1, 2025). We arrived just before closing and even debated skipping the trail — but we’re so glad we didn’t! The walk was only about 10 minutes from the parking area, and we had the entire place to ourselves. The waterfall was absolutely beautiful, and the trail was very well maintained — the rope and step bridges made it a fun and unique experience. The guard at the platform was super friendly and even offered to take photos of us. Swimming under the waterfall was incredibly peaceful and refreshing. It's definitely well worth the stop if you’re in the area!

Such a beautiful place to visit in Costa Rica. The water was cold but stunning. We warmed up on the walk back and then stopped at the hot springs. Perfect day

Catarata Oropéndola was the highlight of my trip! The walk to the waterfall took about 21 minutes—very manageable and totally worth it. We purchased our tickets online and didn’t need a guide, making the experience super easy. We arrived around 3 PM and had the entire waterfall to ourselves for most of the time. The cold water was refreshing, and my boyfriend and I enjoyed every second of it. A few people showed up briefly but left quickly, so we were able to soak in the beauty of the place for a full two hours. If you’re visiting the area, this waterfall is an absolute must-see!

The trail is too rocky, there's nothing to see for two hours on horseback. The guide talked on his cell phone the entire time. The swimming at the waterfall is poorly organized, there's no place to change, we show our butts to the guide who chats with the supervisor of the place. The horses were docile and easy to guide.
