We were only in Vancouver for a few days but I wanted us to visit Stanley park, when I realised how big it was I looked at available tours. I saw this one and thought it would be perfect as my husband Rob loves giant trees, he is growing a few English oaks from acorns here in the UK!! I wasn’t expecting much but Wow! We had a fabulous time, Colin was so interesting to listen to, the giant Maple and Cedars are hidden in ‘plain sight’ amongst the huge Fir trees, they were all truly magnificent and I am so glad we had Colin to show us how to find them. He and Rob had a great deal of tree facts and amusing stories to share, which made the whole afternoon a fun experience as well as educational. We were the only two on the tour as a group who had also booked decided to cancel, they thought it might rain. Turns out it was a beautiful sunny day and the shade of the walk was a welcome part of the tour. I don’t think a bit of rain would be a problem as the whole area is under a magnificent protective canopy of leaves. Sadly they missed out but we enjoyed ourselves immensely. The walk was flat and fairly easy to manage, we are in our 60’s. There were a few times we went off the main path and back, but nothing too difficult. Colin is passionate about these ancient wonders and this shows in his enthusiasm to share his knowledge and raise awareness of the need to preserve all known ancient trees and also to seek out the rest! Thank you Colin for this unexpected highlight of our Canadian trip.

Our family absolutely loved this tour with Colin! Colin was full of information, very engaging, and so passionate about trees! We learned so much not only about trees but also about animals and the history of Vancouver. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone, what better way to spend half a day than walking through beautiful Stanley Park while learning about trees that are hundreds of year old?

I joined a tour that Colin provided for the grade 6/7 class field trip in October 2024. I highly recommend this tour. Colin is so knowledgeable and engaging with so many interesting topics on the history of the park, the forest ecology and big trees. It was truly fascinating and inspiring to see Stanley Park in a new way from someone who is clearly passionate and a leading expert in BC.

I can't recommend this tour enough. If you're in any way interested in nature or trees or just want to learn more, then there is no better way to spend a couple of hours in Vancouver's great outdoors. Whether you're a tourist or a local, you will learn so much and have your perspective completely changed. Colin is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, and through this really well-designed tour is bringing some much needed awareness to the most unique and profound parts of Stanley Park.

Wonderful, incredibly educational, beautiful walking tour of the many old growth, huge trees hidden throughout Stanley Park. Our guide and host Colin was so kind, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and fun. These and all old growth trees and forests are in urgent need of protection and this tour is such an accessible way to learn about ancient trees.
