If you want to get away from the larger crowds this is the place. The view from the keyhole is magical and something everyone should see at least once. The line can be a bit long sometimes but it moves fairly quick. They have a food truck right by the line and there was a man playing several popular songs acoustically. We will definitely be coming back on our next visit to the city. No tickets are required just get in line.
We visited the Knights of Malta Keyhole early in the morning, and it was wonderfully quiet. The view through the keyhole is truly special perfectly framed and absolutely worth seeing. It’s best to go early, as it can get quite crowded later in the day. A small but unforgettable experience in Rome!

I have waited in the sun without any shades for at least a good 60 minutes or more, so I would suggest you to come as early as possible, to avoid the crowd.
Amazing view of St. Peter’s Basilica dome. Photos don’t do it justice so you just have to soak in the view. We went at 6:30AM and there was a few other people around. Ignore the “Closed” on Google, it must be referring to the building itself.
When Google tells you this is closed, ignore it - it probably means the embassy itself... We arrived and there was already a queue so we patiently waited our turn A quick peek and then time for the photographic evidence because, you know, if there's no photo of didn't happen 😋
