Vesuvius is one of the most studied and renowned volcanoes in the world and is an iconic symbol of Naples with its distinctive shape. The volcano has a classic whip conical profile with its highest peak reaching over a thousand meters. Its crater spans several hundred meters in diameter and has significant depth. The famous eruption of Vesuvius in the first century destroyed the Roman cities of Pompeii Herculaneum Oplontis and Stabiae along with several smaller settlements, leaving a lasting mark on history. Guests are picked up from their Naples hotel port or station in the morning and transferred via highway directly to the village of Torre del Greco, where the climb begins through the Vesuvius National Park up to an elevated point that provides access to the crater path.
From the parking area, visitors can walk the trail leading to the summit of the only active volcano on the European continent. Two hours are available to reach the top and walk around the crater while admiring sweeping views of the Bay of Naples from Capo Miseno to the tip of Campanella. After the visit, guests reconvene at the parking area at the time specified by the driver for the return journey to Naples, arriving back at the hotel in the early afternoon. This experience combines natural beauty historical significance and the thrill of standing atop one of the most famous volcanoes in the world.

We just got back from a wonderful private tour of Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast with Fulvio from Naples. As my husband and I were traveling with our 11 month old son and wanted to see the Amalfi Coast, we debated on bussing it vs a group tour vs private driver. For ease and convenience, we ultimately decided on hiring a private driver for our comfort and to go at our own pace. Fulvio was responsive, timely, and very hospitable. It was easy to book him via WhatsApp and he showed up on time on the appointed day. He showed great consideration for our son, offering both a car seat and a booster seat, whichever we preferred. He also had great knowledge and recommendations for our tour. He was an excellent driver, and when our son was uncomfortable from the windy road, he took care to slow down on the remainder of the drive. When our son fell asleep on the latter part of the tour, he also took care drive more quietly. Overall, we don’t regret our decision to hire Fulvio and would highly recommend him to our friends and family!
