Westminster Abbey stands as one of London’s most iconic landmarks and a testament to over a thousand years of English and British history. Known as a royal peculiar, this Medieval Gothic masterpiece has served as the backdrop for every coronation since William the Conqueror, seventeen royal weddings including the union of Prince William and Kate Middleton, and, most recently, the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II followed by the historic coronation of King Charles III. Beyond its ceremonial importance, Westminster Abbey is also a burial site for many royals and notable figures, including Tudor monarchs, famous writers such as Geoffrey Chaucer, Rudyard Kipling, and Charles Dickens, scientists like Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, and Stephen Hawking, as well as actors, abolitionists, and the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Step inside with a private guide who will bring the Abbey’s remarkable history vividly to life. Marvel at the 700-year-old Coronation Chair, where centuries of monarchs have been crowned, and learn about the intricate details of this sacred and complex ceremony. Admire the craft of 16th-century stonework, explore the grand Henry VII Lady Chapel, and see the portraits of modern martyrs that illustrate the Abbey’s continuing role as a living monument to faith, royalty, and national history.
With special skip-the-line access, your 2-hour private tour provides unparalleled insight into this quintessentially British emblem. From its majestic architecture to its historical artifacts and royal connections, your expert guide ensures you gain a deep understanding of Westminster Abbey’s significance over the last millennium. This immersive experience offers a rare opportunity to explore one of Britain’s most cherished and historically rich landmarks without the crowds, revealing stories and details that are often missed by casual visitors.

Dani was amazing! She led us around the city for three straight days. We saw everything we wanted to, and more. We can't talk highly enough about British tours and especially Dani. Her energy was invigorating. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and her knowledge was enlightening. She knew exactly where to stand to get the best view or photo. She knew exactly where to be to see the sights up close. We felt like we had a deep dive master's degree of London history at a college level in just three days. So very impressed and highly recommend!

Geoff was my personal tour guide and driver on a WWII tour. Since I wanted to see the village of Bassingbourn, the site of the airbase and its surroundings, and the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, he devised a personalized tour. We toured the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, and spent time at the American Air Force building, and the restoration building. In Bassingbourn, we stopped at the site of a WWII pub, and had lunch and a beer at the Belle Freehouse, its current occupant. We visited the Catholic church and drove around the village and the area of the airbase, closed to the public because it is an active RAF base. The defining moment came when Geoff showed me 323rd squadron memorial plaque, located in a field mearby. My dad’s squadron! Needless to say, when Geoff leads a tour, he does his homework! Thank you, British Tours (especially Geoff), for going above and beyond expectations. I heartily recommend British Tours to all who want a truly memorable WWII experience.

This is tricky as the advertising for these tours. many selections come up when searching the real tour companies aren't mentioned in the ad only the tour. you go through a booking service who assigns you the tour companies. we had the Westminister Abby Churchill war room tours. you get an email telling you a meeting place there you must figure out who's the company that you're assigned to. we had City tours or something the flag was so faded it couldn't be read. we arrived early the guide was nowhere to be found another guide from a different firm advised us to stay. until he arrived. (you meet on a insanely busy London street corner and have to figure out who's who. he shows up found our name. says wait until others arrive. 10 minutes after the start time only 2 others showed. so we waited finally 30 minutes later. we moved on still with 4 people. ok here's the killer you walk to Westminister Abby. The guide walks you past it says a few words, and that's it. no entry, no inside tour, nothing. then he proceeds up Whitehall st. past the government buildings giving descriptions of each. takes you to the defense ministry to watch the calvary guard change. which can be seen for free. then back down Whitehall st to the Churchill warroom where your dropped of to tour on your own end of tour. 45 pounds, each rip-off

We booked the private plane Normandy Beaches Tour from London in 2018 because we were time poor but also because the tour started when you were in the air above the beaches. Our first two dates were cancelled because of bad weather, but third time lucky five of us were able to make the trip. On a gorgeous sunny day we took off to France for the day (for a group of Australians this alone was a novelty!). Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and the tour was everything we hoped it would be. We still talk about what a fabulous time we had and how lucky we were to have been able to do it.

We used British Tours for a day trip during our layover at Heathrow airport. Our guide picked us up at the hotel (where went to freshen up after the overnight flight) - the van was very comfortable for the 4 of us plus the guide and all our luggage. We traveled first to Windsor and then to Oxford. We had a delightful time. Our guide was informative and interesting. He was flexible and kept our interests in mind as we visited these cities. He knew the ins and outs of finding the best picture spots, lunch and tea spots, and very importantly - where to park! The weather was beautiful and the tour was wonderful. We were able to arrange everything with ease via email. We're so glad we used British Tours! We recommend them highly and will be calling on them again the next time we're in the UK.
