Step back in time on this small-group walking tour through London’s wartime history, where the city’s resilience and courage during World War II come vividly to life. Guided by an expert local historian, you will visit iconic sites that endured the Blitz and learn how Londoners faced unimaginable challenges with determination and hope. Begin at St. Paul’s Cathedral, a powerful symbol of strength that survived direct bomb hits, and hear the remarkable stories of the heroic firemen who worked tirelessly to protect it. Continue to the ruins of Christ Church Greyfriars, now a peaceful memorial garden, and uncover the tragic history of Bank Station, where bombing raids claimed dozens of civilian lives, illustrating the vulnerability of those caught in the air raids.
The tour also takes you to St. Dunstan-in-the-East, a once-damaged church now transformed into a serene garden, symbolizing both destruction and recovery, and to All Hallows by the Tower, one of London’s oldest churches that miraculously survived and provided sanctuary during the bombings. Outside the Tower of London, hear gripping tales of wartime prisoners, including Josef Jakobs, the last person executed there during WWII, emphasizing the city’s strategic and human challenges during the conflict. This immersive journey through London’s wartime past highlights the courage, resilience, and determination of its people, offering a powerful and unforgettable experience that brings history to life at every step.

Liz was an excellent tour guide. In 7 hours, I learned more about London, it’s buildings, and it’s people than I could have ever imagined. She was patient with our group of 12 and answered all the questions that we had. When she did not know one question, she promptly phoned a friend. All in all, excellent tour. Excellent guide. Would highly recommend

The walk leader was so informative and interesting he really made the walk! 10 out of 10.

I've done a number of walks with this company now, but today Brian's tour of The Tower of London beat them all! He's animated, knowledgeable, audible without a mic, and funny. I would HIGHLY recommend doing this tour as your way into The Tower.

The Free Tours by Foot for the WWII Tour is FANTASTIC! Canice Brannon is very welcoming and personable. His knowledge of the sites is great. We really enjoyed ourselves and everywhere he took us. Canice your are the best and thank you! Karen from Tennessee

a fabulous way to see london - the museum on a rainy saturday afternoon was incredibly busy and hence, a bit tricky to hear the tour guide, but the Little Venice tour was very interesting and tour guide funny.
