Begin your journey at the Colosseum, the world’s most famous amphitheater, with an official guide who brings the history of ancient Rome to life. Step back in time to the era of gladiators, emperors, and monumental public spectacles as you explore this iconic structure. Your guide will lead you through fascinating stories of the Colosseum’s construction, its cultural and political significance, and the ways it shaped Roman society, providing a deeper understanding of one of the greatest engineering feats of the ancient world.
This tour grants special access to areas not available to regular ticket holders, including the underground level where wild animals were held before being released onto the arena and where gladiators awaited their turn to fight. Learn about the innovative machinery and techniques the Romans used to create the spectacular games, including lifts for animals and special effects, and gain insight into the elaborate planning behind these incredible events. Standing in these restricted areas allows you to fully appreciate the scale, ingenuity, and drama of Roman entertainment.
In addition to the Colosseum experience, your ticket includes admission to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, where you can explore the ruins of temples, public buildings, and imperial palaces at your own pace. While these sites are self-guided, they offer a unique glimpse into the political, social, and architectural heart of ancient Rome. Keep in mind that schedules may change, so check your email regularly for updates, ensuring you make the most of this immersive and unforgettable exploration of Rome’s legendary landmarks.
