Found this place based on the good reviews, waited half an hour for our gondolier to come back from his previous tour, wasn't disappointed at all. He is funny, knowledgeable and very skillful, we were chatting for almost the whole 30 minutes, learned quite a bit about the heritage. This is our first time so hard to compare but when we had our dinner by the grand canal, we watched the other gondola rides from a different spot and I had to say having a great guide that are friendly and passionate brings you so much more joy than the one that's just there to row the boat.
When planning our holiday to Italy, the wife said one of the only things she definitely wants to do is a gondola ride. Im super tight with money and when I saw the price, €90 for 30 minutes, I thought thats a rip off, I had to hope she'd forget about it. We stumbled across Christians, honestly, it was getting close to 7pm when the price goes up and I was sweating paying €90 let alone €110. He welcomed us and took us for a very quiet and peaceful gondola ride, pointing out key buildings, answered questions we asked. The small quiet canel ended up popping on to the grand canel for abit, which was also quieting down too. After a while we then came back into the smaller canels and then ended up back at the beginning after so some tight corners. I got off feeling that was actually worth €90. Definitely try and time a ride for around 6.20pm where the waterways are slowing down. Thanks Christian keep up the good work.
We were 4 people and did 1 hour gondola ride ❤️ It was around 11:45 and no line. Super relaxed and not many other gondolas around, we went to the main canal, and also quiet canals. Was so worth to do it ! He knew everyone who passed by and truly an authentic Venetian experience !
We had a great experience at this gondola ride with an older gentleman in his 60s (William). He was very funny and mentioned he’s been in the business for over 40 years. He took us through the small canals before going out to the grand canal. He stayed true to the 30mins also. I can testify that he is great and would recommend to anyone looking for an honest hard working gondola!
