Taking a lantern boat tour on the Hoai River is, without a doubt, the most magical and memorable experience you can have in Hoi An. It's not just a boat ride; it's a peaceful and enchanting journey that allows you to fully immerse yourself in the spiritual and romantic atmosphere of this beautiful ancient town. The moment you step into the small, traditional wooden boat, you are transported away from the bustling streets and into a world of flickering lights and gentle reflections. The boats are often rowed manually by a local, adding to the authentic and serene feel of the experience. As you glide along the river, you are surrounded by the warm, glowing light of hundreds of lanterns—from the ones hanging in the ancient buildings to the ones already floating on the water. The highlight of the tour is the beautiful ritual of releasing your own paper lantern onto the river. You're given a flower-shaped lantern with a candle inside, and as you set it afloat, you make a wish for yourself or your loved ones. It’s a simple yet deeply meaningful tradition that makes the experience personal and unforgettable. The sight of countless tiny lights drifting on the water, each one carrying a hope or a prayer, is truly breathtaking and perfect for photos. This tour is incredibly affordable, making it accessible to all travelers. For a modest price, you get a 15-20 minute ride and a lantern to release, which is excellent value for such a unique and beautiful experience. We found the boat operators to be extremely friendly and accommodating, often helping us take fantastic pictures and sharing a few details about the local traditions. For the most magical experience, I highly recommend going in the evening, especially after sunset when the town's lanterns are fully lit. If you're lucky enough to visit during a full moon, the town hosts its monthly Lantern Festival where all electric lights are turned off, and the ancient town is illuminated solely by the soft glow of lanterns—a truly once-in-a-lifetime sight. In short, the Hoi An lantern boat tour is an absolute must-do. It’s a peaceful, romantic, and culturally rich activity that perfectly captures the charm and beauty of Hoi An at night. It's an experience that will stay with you long after you've left.

Awesome place with Lantern Boat Lights and Night Market. Sailed water lamps there - water lamps 10k vnd. Got lamps from the night market. Had banana pancakes and enjoyed the evening.

We had a fantastic time on the Coconut Forest Boat and Hoi An Lantern Tour with Hoang! He was punctual, friendly, and full of positive energy throughout the entire trip. The whole experience was well-organized, smooth, and truly enjoyable. From the fun basket boat ride through the coconut forest to the magical lantern-lit evening in Hoi An, everything was handled with care and attention to detail.
