This was our first time to Rome. Crowds were large to see the Pope! We went to the designated point to meet; and couldn’t find our group. We bugged the security, restaurant workers and other tour guides. Needless to say we missed our tour. We contacted them and refused an almost 400$ ticket. Too bad they weren’t more compassionate. There are more tour places there that understand and help travelers find and enjoy the wonderful history in Roma!!

Tour guide was named Victor and he was amazing. Super knowledgeable of the Vatican and its history. He was a pleasure to talk to and kept the tour moving along efficiently. We went on the six person tour. Be sure to make the climb up St Peter's Basilica, don't bother with the elevator save yourself the couple Euros and take the stairs. The wait for the elevator is very long. Also if you do want to go to a Wednesday mass from the Pope be sure to ask where to get tickets prior to going to The Sistine Chapel as they are available after you leave there and there is no doubling back to get them. I could literally have spent days with our guide just taking in all the history he knew. Amazing. Well worth it.

Okay, where to start..I attented this with my wife and 2,5 year old with a stroller. The guided tour is not worth the cash, especially because the tour guide just rushes through all of the things. The earphone piece that you receive has a bad connection, so we ended up just going our own way at our own pace. The guide also doesn’t guide you in the Sistine chapel. Then the museum and Sistine chapel itself. It’s just one big money machine. The whole thing goes one direction, and there are a lot of guided groups moving in a big group, blocking the way. The whole thing takes very long to walk, and your feet will hurt. WARNING: they do not have good accessibility, so be prepared to move a lot of stairs up and down. Not handy with a stroller. Also, it is way to warm during this time a year. The Sistine Chapel is one big room, with a lot of people. Difficult to just stop somewhere and look around. Few seats will be occupied.
