Milwaukee German Food Tour

Welcome to Wisconsin, the Dairy State, where German traditions and modern culinary creativity come together. This three hour walking food tour explores the Deer District, Milwaukee Riverwalk and Old World 3rd Street. Along the way, a local guide shares stories about Milwaukee’s early immigrant communities and explains how their culture continues to shape the city’s food, architecture and traditions.

The culinary journey begins at a local cheese store, where guests can sample Wisconsin favorites including famous cheese curds. Continue through Old World 3rd Street and visit the Milwaukee County Historical Society while discovering the area’s German heritage. The experience also features a hot bratwurst fresh from the grill and a look at the home of Usinger’s Sausage.

The tour then moves into the Deer District, where traditional flavors meet modern Milwaukee food culture. Guests can visit a local brewing duo and enjoy a taste of a Butter Burger paired with a five ounce sample of Milwaukee brewed beer. A photo stop at Fiserv Forum offers an opportunity to see the home of the Milwaukee Bucks before continuing toward the sweet finale of the tour.

This low impact walking experience covers slightly more than 1.25 miles, with plenty of breaks and opportunities to sit along the way. Guests can also enjoy shopping opportunities at local cheese and sausage stores. The tour is seafood and shellfish free, with vegetarian options available. Other food allergies, dietary restrictions and preferences cannot be accommodated.
