Mount Etna Sartorius Trekking Tour
This approximately eight hour Mount Etna excursion combines off road travel, easy trekking, and volcanic landscapes. The experience starts from Catania or Taormina and follows the route through Giarre, Santa Venerina, Milo, Fornazzo, and the scenic sea snow road.
Guests enjoy an off road ride along a lava flow with views toward the Valle del Bove. A technical stop is planned at the Alpine Hut before continuing toward the extinct craters of the Sartorius Mountains.
The trekking section follows the Sartorius Mountains nature trail and lasts up to three hours. After the trek, guests can stop at the Alpine Hut for lunch, with the typical refuge meal available at an additional cost. The journey then continues with a trek to a lava flow cave.
Transportation takes place in six seater off road vehicles with an experienced driver and environmental hiking guide. The excursion is available in Italian, English, French, and German. Hiking shoes, a windbreaker, and a hat are required. The tour may be canceled if the minimum number of participants is not reached, with a refund provided.
