Vineyard Walk and Harvest Experience in Ofena
The historic vineyards of Ofena set the stage for a memorable food and wine experience through the landscapes of Abruzzo. Starting from the IL BOSSO headquarters at the “Valle del Tirino” Tourist and Training Center near the Capodacqua spring in Capestrano, participants follow a flat route through ancient vineyards and centuries-old olive groves.
The walk continues along a foothill track toward the uninhabited village of San Silvestro in Ofena, offering a glimpse into the area's pastoral past. Surrounded by peaceful countryside and historic landscapes, the route provides an opportunity to discover the character of the upper Tirino Valley while enjoying a relaxed outdoor excursion suitable for explorers of all ages.
The experience then reaches the vineyards of Cantina Cataldi Madonna, where participants can take part directly in the grape harvest. Equipped with scissors and buckets, guests join the traditional vendemmia of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grapes, gaining an authentic insight into the seasonal work behind local winemaking.
After the harvest, the experience concludes with a rustic lunch among the Cataldi Madonna vineyard rows. The approximately five-hour program includes 1.5 hours of walking, 1.5 hours of grape harvesting, and around two hours of lunch. Dogs are welcome, while live music among the vineyards adds an entertaining touch to this countryside celebration.
