Guests meet at the In Stone Fossils Gallery in Kemmerer before heading toward the private quarry with an experienced guide or professional geologist. The experience offers personalized instruction and an opportunity to learn about fossils, geology, excavation methods, and the ancient environment preserved within the Green River Formation.
At the quarry, guests receive an introduction to safety procedures, tools, and fossil digging techniques before beginning their excavation. The adventure also features a four hour master fossil preparation class, giving participants an opportunity to develop practical skills for carefully preparing and working with fossils.
The experience is stroller and wheelchair accessible. Guests choosing to drive themselves should bring a four wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. Check in takes place at 3 PM at the In Stone Fossils Gallery, where any remaining balance can be paid on arrival.
