Green River Fossil Dig Kemmerer

Step into the ancient world with a six hour hands on paleontological dig at Wyoming’s famous Green River Formation. This unique experience gives visitors the chance to explore an 18 inch fossil rich layer while searching for ancient fish fossils preserved within calcium carbonate deposits. The adventure offers an exciting combination of discovery, education and outdoor exploration.

Expert guides accompany participants throughout the dig, sharing professional knowledge and helping guests understand what they uncover. All necessary equipment and beverages are available during the experience, allowing visitors to focus on searching through the formation and learning about the prehistoric environment. The tour provides an immersive way to experience paleontology beyond a traditional museum visit.

The adventure runs from 6 PM until midnight and costs 600 dollars per person, with a minimum of two participants. Guests can keep up to 1000 dollars per person in qualifying non scientific specimens discovered during the dig. Rare scientifically significant discoveries are preserved for future research, allowing participants to contribute to ongoing paleontological work.

Any remaining payment can be settled upon arrival on the day of the tour.
