Experience the excitement of fall steelhead fishing on the beautiful rivers of the southern Kenai Peninsula. This five and a half hour guided fishing adventure takes place from September through November and offers anglers an opportunity to explore scenic rivers while pursuing Alaska steelhead. The trip is designed for all ages, although participants need suitable hiking ability and mobility for walking and wading.

Steelhead fishing is primarily a fall activity in this region, with runs beginning in late August and early September and generally reaching their peak around the middle of October. The fishing may take place on the Anchor, Deep Creek, Ninilchik or Upper Kasilof rivers depending on conditions and seasonal timing. Both conventional tackle and fly fishing can be effective approaches.

These rivers do not receive extremely large steelhead returns, so catches can depend heavily on weather, run timing and persistence. The walk and wade nature of the adventure makes preparation particularly important, with chest waders being essential for participating comfortably in the river environment. Guests can enjoy the challenge of pursuing steelhead while taking in the peaceful scenery of the Kenai Peninsula.

Meeting takes place at Kasilof River State Recreation Area, with parking fees paid upon arrival. Guests should purchase the appropriate fishing license before the trip and bring lunch or snacks. Alaska weather can change quickly, so layered clothing, warm footwear and reliable rain gear are strongly recommended. After a successful fishing day, catches can be cleaned, filleted and bagged, while processing and shipping costs remain the responsibility of the guest.
