Cowpoke Days at R and M Stables
Cowpoke Days at R and M Stables give children an opportunity to continue the horsemanship skills and confidence they developed during Pony Camp. Designed for children who attended Pony Camp this season, these sessions offer more time at the barn while helping young riders continue learning, growing, and becoming more comfortable around horses. Whether it was their first summer at camp or they have returned for several seasons, Cowpoke Days create an encouraging setting for children to build on their previous experience.
Each 1 hour 15 minute session focuses on the foundation of good horsemanship, showing children that riding is only one part of working with horses. Riders will groom and prepare their pony before riding, continue learning proper tacking and safety procedures, and build upon the riding skills introduced during Pony Camp. Through hands on activities, children can improve their balance, confidence, control, and communication while learning how to work responsibly with their pony.
The experience also continues after the riding portion is finished. Children will learn to untack and care for their pony after the ride, reinforcing the importance of responsibility and safe horse handling. Each session helps strengthen the knowledge, practical skills, and work habits that support capable riders and encourage a lasting appreciation for horses. The focus remains on developing well rounded horsemanship rather than simply spending time in the saddle.
Families can choose the sessions that fit their fall schedules, with no requirement to attend every available date. Cowpoke Days are offered on Tuesdays, with sessions scheduled from 4:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on August 25, September 1, September 8, September 15, and September 22. The cost is 60 dollars per rider per session, and spaces are limited on a first come first served basis. Whether a child wants to strengthen riding abilities, gain confidence around horses, or continue the experience they enjoyed during Pony Camp, Cowpoke Days offer a practical way to continue their horsemanship education.
