Step back into one of the most important moments in American history with a two hour horseback tour through the historic Gettysburg battlefield. Ride through the same landscapes where soldiers fought during the Civil War while learning about the strategies, movements, and events that shaped the Battle of Gettysburg.

Your journey is led by a live Licensed Battlefield Guide who shares detailed stories and historical insights throughout the ride. Single earbud headsets are provided so you can clearly follow the guide while taking in the surrounding battlefield scenery. The horseback experience offers a unique way to understand how the landscape influenced the decisions and movements of both armies.

The route begins behind the Virginia Monument, where General Robert E Lee awaited his troops following Pickett’s Charge. Continue toward Spangler Farm while enjoying views across the Peach Orchard and looking toward Little Round Top. You will then cross Emmitsburg Road onto the Union side of the battlefield and visit the historic Trostle Farm.

Outriders accompany the group throughout the experience to help maintain a safe and comfortable ride. Tours operate rain or shine, so guests should be prepared for changing outdoor weather conditions. Arrive at least 30 minutes before departure for check in at McMillan Woods Youth Campground, where free parking is available.
