Magnolia Hall Showcases Natchez’s Grand Antebellum Heritage

Visitors can step into Natchez’s antebellum past at Magnolia Hall, also known as the Henderson-Britton House. Recognized as the last mansion built in Natchez before the Civil War, the historic property offers a fascinating look at the lavish lifestyle enjoyed by the Henderson and Britton families during the mid nineteenth century.

Constructed from brick and covered with stucco, Magnolia Hall features a carefully restored façade painted and scored to resemble elegant Brownstone. Its Greek Revival townhome design reflects the architectural sophistication of the period, while the preserved interiors help visitors understand the social customs and refined lifestyle associated with historic Natchez.

The second floor houses an elaborate costume museum featuring clothing and displays inspired by pre Civil War era pageantry. A historic photo station adds an interactive element to the visit, giving guests an opportunity to capture memories while exploring the property. The collections also highlight the important preservation efforts carried out by women’s organizations in Natchez for nearly a century.

Today, Magnolia Hall serves as the headquarters of the Natchez Garden Club and continues to play an active role in the community by hosting weddings, formal dinners, balls and social gatherings.
