Waikiki Turtle Canyon Snorkeling Adventure

A two-and-a-half-hour ocean adventure invites visitors to explore Turtle Canyon, a shallow reef system just offshore from Waikiki on Oahu’s south shore. Known for its warm, protected waters and abundant marine life, the reef provides an excellent setting for encountering Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles in their natural environment. Guests check in at the Outrigger Reef Hotel before making the short walk to the beach, where the Holokai catamaran departs directly from the shoreline.

The experience combines snorkeling with a relaxing coastal cruise aboard a spacious handcrafted catamaran. After reaching Turtle Canyon, guests spend more than an hour in the water, where they may see Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles gliding above the reef, resting on the sandy bottom, or surfacing for air. Colorful tropical fish, octopus, and coral formations add to the underwater experience, while experienced captains and crew members provide guidance on safe and respectful wildlife encounters.

Following the snorkeling session, guests return aboard the catamaran and cruise toward Diamond Head for scenic views along the Waikiki coastline. Light complimentary snacks are provided as passengers relax on the shaded deck or enjoy the boat’s distinctive netted splash area above the water. Direct beach boarding eliminates the need for harbor transfers and offers a convenient alternative to traditional snorkeling excursions departing from busy marinas.

The tour is designed for confident swimmers, with all participants required to demonstrate strong swimming ability as assessed by the onboard crew. Children under eighteen must be accompanied by an adult, while guests with heavily impaired mobility may find beach boarding difficult because it involves loose sand and eight steps onto the boat. Check-in is required thirty minutes before departure, and guests should wear footwear that can be easily removed.
