Intermediate Sailor Course
The Intermediate Sailor Course is designed for sailors with previous crewing or small boat sailing experience who want to become qualified to charter a sailboat independently in the Apostle Islands. Participants complete a boating resume so instructors can assess their experience and plan the two days of training accordingly.
The course takes place aboard a 32 to 33 foot sailboat that serves as the classroom and overnight accommodation. Complimentary boarding is available the evening before the first training day. Participants spend two days and one night anchored with the captain aboard while learning the responsibilities of a skipper.
The course certifies two people over two days, with up to two additional crew members allowed for a reduced fee. At least two people must register at booking, with crew names, phone numbers, and email addresses required. Participants should be physically fit for hands on sailing activities and unaided movement around docks, boats, and dinghies.
Participants are responsible for their own provisions, including enough food and supplies for the captain or instructor. The course starts on any day of the week. The listed fees are 895 dollars per person, a 150 dollar boat cleaning fee, a 90 dollar damage fee, and a 44.75 dollar park service fee per person.
