Superior Charters offers a three day bareboat sailor certification course designed for people with no previous sailing experience. The course provides hands on training to prepare participants to charter a sailboat independently in the Apostle Islands.
Participants learn basic sailing skills, vessel systems, docking in the slip, and overnight anchoring. Instructors assess each crew members skill level and focus on the practical skills needed for successful bareboat chartering.
The course takes place aboard a 33 foot Jeanneau sailboat, which serves as the classroom and overnight accommodation. Participants sleep onboard in the harbor for two nights and spend one night anchored with the instructor. Each boat has a head and galley.
The course certifies two people over three days, with up to two additional crew members allowed. Additional crew members receive crew certification. At least two people must be registered at booking, with names and contact details required. The course can start any day except Sunday.
