Pig Hunting Mission
The Pig Hunting Mission takes guests into the rugged Far North backcountry for a traditional wild pig hunting experience. Guided by local experts, participants learn tracking methods and experience Māori cultural traditions connected to gathering kai from the land.
The hunt takes place across forestry and farmland using trained hunting dogs and traditional methods. No firearms are used during the experience, with guides teaching participants how to track and catch wild pigs while sharing local stories and cultural knowledge.
Participants also learn how to skin, bone and prepare the meat after the hunt. The 12 hour mission includes a hearty meal, while the 24 hour overnight option adds farmstay or cabin accommodation along with dinner, breakfast and lunch.
The experience operates from March through November and is available as either a 12 hour day or night mission or a 24 hour overnight mission. Groups are limited to four hunters, and the activity may be affected by weather and terrain conditions.
