Climbing Photography Course Blends Technical Skills And Creativity
A two-day climbing photography course offers climbers and photographers an opportunity to discover how dramatic climbing images are created from challenging positions. Designed for participants aged sixteen and above, the course explores the technical systems, creative decisions and safety practices required to position photographers effectively around climbing environments.
Participants will learn how to build and manage static rope systems, choose effective shooting positions and move efficiently while suspended. Instruction also covers communication, safety considerations and techniques for working around climbers without disrupting their movements or the climb.
The course combines technical practice with creative photography, giving participants opportunities to both rig systems and capture images from different perspectives. Locations are selected according to terrain and conditions, providing varied angles and realistic scenarios while emphasizing organized systems and thoughtful positioning.
Participants meet at Ledge Brewing Company for check-in and gear fitting before carpooling to the climbing areas around North Conway. The approach may involve steep, rocky or slippery terrain, and climbing requires full-body physical activity. Guests should be prepared for an active outdoor experience and communicate any accommodation needs in advance.
