Active and retired military service members can experience a different kind of challenge through this full day outdoor climbing clinic. Designed for participants aged sixteen and above, the program requires no previous climbing experience and combines physical activity, teamwork and practical instruction in a supportive environment.
The clinic introduces foundational outdoor climbing skills, including movement techniques, belaying and communication. Depending on the group's experience and interests, instructors may also introduce more technical climbing systems, helping participants gradually develop confidence and improve their abilities.
Hands-on learning is central to the experience, with individualized coaching and plenty of time on the rock. Guides select climbing locations based on group ability and current conditions, using terrain that supports both learning and progression while allowing participants to work at their own pace.
Check in and gear fitting take place at Ledge Brewing Company at eight in the morning before departing for the climbing areas around North Conway. Participants should be prepared for steep, rocky and sometimes slippery approaches. The small guided groups provide personalized attention, while opportunities to try climbing equipment add to the day's practical experience.
