Sundown Bouldering Competition Brings Climbers Together

Climbers of all ages and abilities will gather for a self-directed bouldering competition at Sundown Bouldering Area, with participation limited to one hundred climbers. Competitors will have five hours to complete as many selected climbing problems as possible, ranging from beginner friendly V0 routes to challenging V10 and higher problems.

The competition will feature several divisions, including Young Crushers for participants aged thirteen and under, Common Climbers for ages fourteen to thirty nine, and Masters for climbers aged forty and above. Youth participants must be accompanied by an adult, while the Common Climbers and Masters divisions will also be separated into Male, Female and Non-Binary categories.

The event begins with check-in and registration at Ledge Brewing Company, followed by competition rules and a group departure toward the Sundown parking area. Climbers will record each successful ascent on official scorecards, with two witnesses required to verify every send. Completed scorecards must be submitted before the final deadline in the afternoon.

The day concludes with an awards presentation at Ledge Brewing Company, where winners and runners-up will receive recognition based on the V-point scoring system. Participants should be prepared for steep, rocky and potentially slippery terrain when reaching the bouldering area. In case of rain, the competition will move to the following day with the same schedule and format.
