Climbers Build Technical Skills Through Anchor Clinic
Climbing enthusiasts can spend a full day developing essential safety skills during this seven hour technical clinic designed for participants aged sixteen and above. The hands-on course focuses on climbing anchors, which form a critical foundation for safe and efficient climbing across different environments.
Participants will learn how to place climbing protection using spring loaded camming devices, nuts and tri-cams. The clinic also explores multiple point anchors, equalization, non-extension systems and advanced belay techniques, giving climbers practical knowledge they can apply during future climbs.
The training goes beyond classroom instruction as climbers build anchors, practice different belay methods, learn safe transitions and remove their own anchor systems. Small guided groups allow for personalized attention, while the experience also provides an opportunity to work with a variety of climbing equipment.
Participants meet at Ledge Brewing Company at eight in the morning for check-in and gear fitting before traveling to the climbing crags. The clinic takes place around North Conway and may involve steep, rocky or slippery terrain. Climbers should be prepared for demanding physical activity and communicate any accommodation needs in advance.
