Pattern Bars And Stringer Sheets Become Finished Glass Art
The second stage of the fused glass workshop brings previously created pattern bars and stringer sheets to life. Over two days, participants return to their fired glass elements and learn how to transform them into two carefully designed finished artworks through cutting, arranging and creative composition.
The workshop focuses on precise glass cutting and thoughtful design as participants work with the colorful patterns hidden inside their fired materials. One project uses a pattern bar to create a six inch by six inch plate or tray, while the second transforms a stringer sheet into an eight inch by eight inch dish or plate.
After the pieces have been carefully arranged, the completed projects are kiln fired again to fuse the glass elements together and shape them into their final forms. The process gives participants an opportunity to see how earlier preparation can develop into polished and functional glass artwork.
This is a two day workshop offered through separate bookings, with approximately four hours on the first day and three hours on the second. Completion of the Pattern Bars and Stringer Sheets workshop on Day One is required before attending Day Two, and participants must register for both sessions. Finished artwork will be available for pickup after firing.
