Torredembarra Biotope Opens A Window Into Mediterranean Marine Life
Certified divers can discover an extraordinary underwater environment at the Torredembarra Biotope, an artificial reef created to help restore life beneath the Mediterranean. The dive offers a unique combination of marine conservation, underwater exploration and adventure, with the reef quickly becoming a thriving habitat.
The underwater structure consists of large rock formations that create caves, passages and natural shelters for a remarkable variety of marine species. More than two hundred and fifty species have already been recorded in the area, including schools of fish, octopuses, nudibranchs, lobsters, scorpionfish and cuttlefish.
Located at depths ranging from twelve to thirty four meters, the biotope provides an exciting setting for certified Open Water divers. Excellent visibility allows participants to observe the reef and its marine inhabitants, while lucky visitors may even encounter larger species such as sunfish or dolphins.
The experience lasts approximately one and a half hours, with M. Rota Diving serving as the meeting point. A diving bottle and lead weights are included, allowing certified divers to focus on exploring this developing underwater ecosystem and witnessing how conservation efforts are creating a vibrant new home for Mediterranean marine life.
