Bellingham Middle School Sailing Team
The Middle School Sailing Team offers a nine week sailing race program for students in grades 6 through 8 The team meets every Wednesday and Thursday from 4 pm to 7 pm and creates a supportive environment where young sailors can build confidence develop independence and strengthen their sailing abilities.
Training focuses on technical sailing skills boat handling advanced maneuvers and tactical racing strategies Sailors learn to read wind patterns understand race courses and make decisions while sailing They also develop fitness and conditioning skills to prepare for the physical demands of competitive sailing.
The program encourages teamwork communication and good sportsmanship Sailors may compete independently or in pairs while learning how to work effectively with teammates Regional regatta participation also helps students gain valuable competition experience and develop skills needed for higher level sailing events.
The Middle School Sailing Team welcomes beginner and intermediate sailors and supports both competitive goals and personal development Students should be prepared for changing weather conditions and active training Lifejackets and whistles are available along with wetsuits when required Proper sailing gear is encouraged throughout the program.
