Discover Art, Memory and New Beginnings Through Jesse Krimes
Mural Arts Philadelphia and The Fabric Workshop and Museum present a special experience celebrating the powerful quilts and murals of Pennsylvania artist Jesse Krimes. Guests will explore how art can reflect memory, identity, collaboration, and lived experiences shaped by incarceration.
At The Fabric Workshop and Museum, visitors can explore the Elegy Quilts exhibition and create their own commemorative button. Guests can select patterned fabric scraps and transform them into a personal collage inspired by Krimes’s artistic methods and themes.
The experience continues with a guided walk to several Mural Arts Restorative Justice murals, including Declaration, shaped by Krimes’s curatorial work. Guests will also discover Riverside, his newest mural, inspired by a quilt featured in the exhibition and celebrating young artists envisioning hopeful futures.
The event begins and ends at The Fabric Workshop and Museum on Arch Street. The experience includes time inside the exhibition followed by an outdoor walking tour, covering flat city streets. Advance tickets are required, and walk up admission is not available.
