Warner offers an opportunity to explore lesser-known stories from its Black history, spanning the period from the American Revolution through the Early Republic. Led by Sankofa Scholars and Tour Guides Rebecca Courser and Lynn Clark, this tour brings attention to the lives and experiences of the community’s earliest Black residents.
The experience follows the stories of people who lived, learned, worked, gathered, and were laid to rest in Warner. Guests will carpool to historic locations connected with these residents while discovering the places and communities that shaped their lives.
Throughout the tour, participants will hear stories that have often received less attention in traditional local histories. Covering roughly 250 years of history, the experience offers a deeper look at Black life and contributions within Warner and its surrounding community.
The tour leaves at 1pm from Warner Town Hall at 5 East Main Street in Warner, New Hampshire. Guests should arrive at least 15 minutes before departure, as late arrivals may lose their spot. Sturdy walking shoes are recommended, and tours operate rain or shine.
