Improve dinghy sailing and boat handling skills

Learn advanced techniques for better boat control
Develop skills for independent dinghy sailing
Intermediate Dinghy Sailing Bellingham
Intermediate Dinghy Sailing is designed for sailors who already understand the fundamentals taught in a beginner dinghy course or have equivalent experience. The eight hour program is divided into two four hour sessions and is suitable for participants aged 16 and above.
The course develops stronger sailing and boat handling skills through practical training in different wind and weather conditions. Participants learn about tides, currents, sailing physics, sail trim, weight balance, capsize recovery, hiking techniques, sailing strategy, right of way, and onboard communication.
Training is adjusted to each participants skill level and goals. Instructors may conduct a skills test during the course, and many students who complete the program are prepared to take the test. Because sailing depends on weather and wind conditions, each session may offer different learning opportunities.
Participants can continue toward independent sailing, skills testing, or dinghy racing after completing the course. Those who need additional confidence can take a private lesson or further training before sailing independently.
