Intermediate Keelboat Sailing Bellingham
Intermediate Keelboat Sailing is designed for sailors who already understand basic sailing skills and want to improve their boat handling. The course lasts eight hours across two four hour sessions and is suitable for participants aged 16 and above. It focuses on developing confidence and stronger practical sailing knowledge.
Participants refine their skills in rigging, sail trim, boat balance, and crew responsibilities. The course explores how different forces affect the boat and how small adjustments to sails and rigging can improve performance. By the end, students should feel more comfortable handling a keelboat independently.
The course is taught by certified instructors according to US Sailing standards through an accredited US Sailing Center. Students progress at their own pace and may consider additional private instruction if they need more practice before completing the Skills Test.
After completing the course, participants can progress toward independent sailing or continue developing advanced skills. The next options include spinnaker training and racing. A Skills Test may also be administered during the course at the instructors discretion.
