Set on the eve of liberation in 1949, the production explores the firm beliefs and heroic sacrifices of revolutionary figures while presenting a powerful story shaped by changing times.

Located in Ciqikou, the Chongqing 1949 Grand Theatre was specially designed for this unique performance. The theatre features a 360 degree rotating auditorium and a five ring rotating stage, allowing audiences to experience the story from changing perspectives. More than 60 million possible scene combinations help recreate historic Chongqing environments.

The production recreates iconic settings including Ciqikou Wharf, traditional stilted buildings, mountain city streets and important revolutionary locations. Advanced technology combines 3D visuals, surround sound, aerial wire performances, seat movement and dramatic lighting to create an immersive atmosphere that places audiences directly within the unfolding story.

Lasting approximately 70 minutes, Chongqing 1949 combines historical storytelling, emotional performances and innovative stage technology.
