Detroit Blend Your Own Bourbon

Detroit City Distillery invites bourbon enthusiasts to step into the role of a master blender during this two hour hands on experience. Held at the distillery on Maple Street, the tour begins with an introduction to bourbon and the role Detroit has played in its history. Guests then follow the production journey from raw grains through the distilling process to the moment the spirit enters the barrel.

The experience continues with a guided tasting led by a whiskey expert. Participants learn how to identify aromas and flavor notes while discovering the proper way to taste whiskey from different barrels. This educational session prepares guests for the main activity, where they can compare four distinct barrels and decide which flavors best suit their preferences.

Guests then create their own bourbon blend using the distillerys blending equipment. With guidance from the whiskey team, participants develop a personal recipe and craft a custom 750 milliliter bottle. The experience offers an opportunity to create a distinctive Detroit made bourbon that can become a memorable addition to a future gathering.

The activity is designed for guests aged 21 and above and supports wheelchair accessibility. Each booking accommodates a group of up to 12 people. The experience includes barrel tastings, a custom bourbon bottle, and personalized front and back labels. Additional bottles and Glencairn glasses are not part of the experience.
