Admire ornate horse-drawn carriages and elegant royal motor cars, including the famous Gold State Coach, which has featured in every coronation since George IV.
Discover the Cleveland Bays, Britain’s only breed of carriage horse, which play an important role in official royal ceremonies. The Royal Mews is also home to Windsor Grey horses that pull the royal carriages. Please note that the horses may be working, training or resting away from London during your visit.
See the impressive Diamond Jubilee State Coach, unveiled at the State Opening of Parliament in 2014. Built to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, the coach combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. Measuring around five-and-a-half metres long and over three metres high, it offers a fascinating glimpse into royal engineering.
Explore the remarkable details inside the Diamond Jubilee State Coach, including historic artefacts connected with The Mary Rose and the Victoria Crosses. Admire the carved Imperial Crown made from oak from HMS Victory, along with modern features such as electric windows, heating and interior lighting.
