The King’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace: Queen Elizabeth II’s Life in Style
Step inside The King’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace, a permanent exhibition space showcasing changing displays from the Royal Collection. This remarkable collection of art and treasures is held in trust by The King for the Nation, offering visitors an opportunity to explore objects connected with Britain’s royal heritage in an elegant setting on the west front of Buckingham Palace.
The gallery itself has a fascinating history. Built around forty years ago from the bomb-damaged remains of the palace’s former private chapel, it reopened to the public on 21 May 2002. Today, The King’s Gallery welcomes visitors daily with exhibitions that bring highlights from the Royal Collection into view.
From 10 April to 18 October 2026, visitors can experience Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style, a special exhibition marking 100 years since the birth of Queen Elizabeth II. Celebrating the fashion and personal style of Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, the exhibition brings together more than 300 items spanning all ten decades of her life, with many displayed publicly for the first time.
The exhibition features an extraordinary selection of clothing, jewellery, hats, shoes, and accessories, including Queen Elizabeth II’s christening robe, wedding dress, bridesmaid dress, and Coronation dress. As the largest display dedicated to the Queen’s fashion, Her Life in Style offers a memorable glimpse into the wardrobe, occasions, and evolving style of one of Britain’s most recognisable monarchs.
