Sicilian Cooking Class Blends Local Markets, History, and Tradition
Experience authentic Sicilian cuisine through a hands-on cooking class beginning at Porta Carini, the entrance to Capo Market. Guests join the chef to select fresh local ingredients before moving to the elegant Palazzo Asmundo, a historic seventeenth-century noble residence near Palermo Cathedral.
During the class, participants prepare a complete Sicilian menu featuring three traditional dishes with seasonal ingredients. The menu can include fish, meat, or vegetarian options upon request, allowing guests to enjoy a personalized culinary journey through Sicily’s diverse flavors and traditions.
The experience begins with a tasting of local olives, cheeses, Monreale bread, extra virgin olive oil, and a glass of wine. Guests also learn to prepare authentic Sicilian limoncello using lemons grown by the chef near the Nebrodi Park, adding a special homemade touch.
At the end of the cooking session, participants receive a chef-signed certificate and a small bottle of homemade limoncello to take home. Hotel pickup is available upon request for an additional cost, while travelers should note that the venue is not wheelchair accessible and does not accommodate pets.
