PR13 Vereda do Fanal Hiking Transfer

Starting from the Paul da Serra plateau, the Vereda do Fanal trail offers a scenic journey through one of Madeira most beautiful natural landscapes. Covering a distance of 10.8 kilometers and taking around five hours, this one way hike passes through the rich and well preserved Laurissilva forest, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The trail alternates between open sections with wide panoramic views and shaded paths surrounded by dense green vegetation. Along the way, hikers can enjoy viewpoints overlooking the Ribeira da Janela valley and Chao da Ribeira, creating a diverse and rewarding walking experience filled with natural beauty and peaceful surroundings. The route ends at the Fanal Forest, a unique area known for its ancient trees and volcanic landscape. This region is classified as a Rest and Silence Reserve, making it an ideal place to relax and enjoy nature. The hike is considered easy to moderate, suitable for those with basic fitness and some hiking experience. Transfers are available from several areas including Funchal and nearby towns, making access convenient. As this is a self guided experience, hikers receive digital maps and instructions in advance, allowing them to explore at their own pace while staying prepared for changing weather conditions such as fog or rain.
